About John Henry
John Henry is one of Maui's most award winning photographers. His elegant style of portraiture and attention to detail has earned him a reputation that is unsurpassed, making him one of the most sought after photographers in Hawaii. He has received many national, state and corporate awards for his photography, including the prestigious Fuji Masterpiece and PPA Loan Collection awards. He is a recipient of the Fellowship Award from the Professional Photographers of Hawaii; and in 1999, John Henry became the very first recipient of the Photographer of the Year award presented by the Maui Professional Photographers Association. In 2000, John Henry Photography, Inc. was listed in “Hawaii’s Fastest 50,” an award presented by the Pacific Business News which highlights small businesses experiencing tremendous growth in a relatively short period of time.
Beginning his career in 1984, John Henry considers himself a leader among his peers as one of the first photographers in Hawaii to incorporate professional digital equipment into the business. He has mastered the fine art of digital retouching and his skilled talent in this field is what makes him stand out among the rest. He will bring out the best qualities in a person with just the right amount of enhancements to the photo and still keep it looking natural and unaffected. John's humor, talent, and positive attitude always put his clients at ease. His outstanding portraiture and exceptional clientele service bring back many wedding clients for subsequent family portraits. He is the choice for celebrity weddings in Hawaii; past clients include rapper/producer Dr. Dre, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, Metallica’s James Hetfield, left-handed pitcher Chuck Finley and actress Tawny Kitaen, 1998 MLB Rookie of the Year Kerry Wood, and basketball star Desmond Mason. In addition, John Henry has photographed world famous celebrities including Jerry Lewis, Sammy Davis, Jr., Barbara Eden, Robert Wagner, Burt Lancaster, Magic Johnson, Scotty Pippin, and many others, too numerous to mention. John Henry serves as the “Official Photographer for the Miss Maui Scholarship Pageant.” John Henry Photography, Inc. prides itself with having top-of-the-line professional equipment that is consistently updated in keeping up with our fast-moving technology.
